If you think being four is all fun, you may think differently after reading this. A four-year-old has a super busy mind full of ideas and questions about the world around him. It is the age that he/she start to face all the not-so-fun realities of life. Here are some of the bed-time questions that I've been challenged with.
-Mommy! How did you marry?
-Ohhhh! But how did you marry?
-Aha! But I mean why did you marry mom?
-Mom! Did you know that grandpa is dead?
-Why did you know that?
-NOOOO! You did not know that! I just told you!
… A few days later …
-Dad! Is your father still dead?
-Mom, tell me the story of homeless people! [ In Farsi: برام گِستهی یِدا بگو (یعنی قصهی گدا)]
(This one was after we visited Iran and he noticed beggars on the streets.)
- Why all dinosaurs are dead?
-But I love dinosaurs … But I want to see them alive …
- Now can you tell me the story about earth-quake?
- Mom, Have you seen God?
- So how people talk to God?
- Is it the Sun?
And as you can guess, all these questions can be combined … it takes mommy a week or two to understand where does these questions come from and what is the underlying concern.
The bed-time conversation is one of the hardest and yet the best part of my day. The reward of parenting two curious little boys who keep me busy all day long and make me wish I had only one hour to myself every day. Thank you Rodeen joon to make me think about every thing all over again. I am growing up with you.
